BLOXWICH YOUTH CONSULTATION
Aim of Project​
Walsall Council embarked on a journey to deliver Bloxwich Launchpad centre. The development will provide start-up and small businesses with office space, equipped with state of the art digital connectivity and collaborative space. The centre will also support residents with their digital access needs, providing advice, guidance and training. We were commissioned by the Council to engage and consult with young people aged 16 – 24 who live in the area, to obtain feedback that will help shape the services that are to be delivered at the centre.
Delivery
Our research began with surveying local 16-24 year olds to capture their opinions over the services and facilities that they would like to see being offered at this new centre. The team made their way around the local area to gather as many young people’s perspectives and voices as possible. Locations that were visited include: Beechdale Lifelong Learning Centre during one of their 'Choose Day Youth Club' evenings; POP's group session at Electric Palace in Blakenall; Juniper Training centre in Walsall town; and Walsall College Wisemore and Green Lane campuses.
After completing surveys, we re-visited Juniper Training to host several forum sessions with groups of young people that receive support from Juniper. These forums married up practical media skills training with open discussion with local young people to hear their thoughts on living in Walsall, the provisions that are on offer for them, how they view entrepreneurship, and what they think is important for the new Launchpad centre to provide young people with.​
